Introduction

The following pages contain a brief evaluation of key elements of your birth chart, although it is by no means complete. Astrology can reveal many things about a person's life and personality, and you could study your chart for a lifetime without knowing the answers to all of your questions. The descriptions that follow will give you a "thumbnail" introduction to yourself through astrology.

In interpreting your chart, this report considers the sign of the planets and the north node in your chart, as well as their house placements. It also describes the sign of the Ascendant and the strongest aspects between the planets.

You may note that some of the following descriptions appear to contradict each other--and indeed we are all walking bundles of contradiction. If you examine yourself carefully, you will probably realize that you do in fact possess the qualities of both conflicting descriptions. Even though some parts of the reading may seem to clash, you will see that certain themes are repeated throughout the following pages. These are the ones that will become major issues in your life.

The readings stress that you are the ultimate decider of your fate. The stars may indicate the hand you were dealt at birth, but it is up to you to play that hand well enough to achieve your goals. Also, bear in mind that every "bad" aspect of a chart also has a "good" side. How it is expressed is really up to you. We tend to work at expressing ourselves more positively most of the time and only lapse into the negative behavior described when depressed, angry or scared. Or it is possible that some aspects may better describe your personality or behavior earlier in life. They may seem alien now because you have already worked through them.

A "Strength" number precedes each aspect description; this number takes into account how exact the aspect is, whether the aspect is a major or minor one, and whether an aspecting planet is close to one of the four chart angles. The higher the Strength, the more you are likely to feel the aspect and to act it out in your life.

Sun in Taurus

Natives of the sign Taurus are well known for their stubbornness. Like their symbol, the Bull, they are slow to anger but can be quite violent when aroused. Then after they've kicked up their heels and charged at you a few times, they go back to grazing peacefully in the pasture. Taurus jealously guards his or her tranquil environment and will brook no interference.

Since it is an earth sign, Taurus natives usually have their feet planted firmly on terra firma. They are practical and stable people, but they will not hesitate to spend money extravagantly on the finer things in life and will insist on the best of everything. They appreciate art objects, good music, fine wines and beautiful surroundings and are willing to pay for them. Since Taurus is ruled by Venus, it is also the sign of love. Taureans are romantic, affectionate and sensuous, and they are fiercely protective of their mates.

It is not easy for Taureans to undergo radical change in their lives because they usually resist. Most of all you love to shock others with your opinions, which often violate taboos. You can see the need for old arbitrary restrictions to be cast aside. Freedom is very important to you, but you must sometimes remember to extend the same freedom to your partner.

You are a mixture of radical thought and conservative action and are sometimes plagued by anxiety and tension. Often you take on others' problems or causes without getting anything in return.

Mars in Leo

You are impulsive and passionate about most everything in life, no matter what age you may be. The only danger of this Mars placement is that pride may make you stubborn and quarrelsome. Mercury square Uranus (Strength: 05.81)

Your ideas and beliefs are different from most people's, and some may consider you eccentric. In fact, you are very intelligent and talented; it's just that you are an intellectual rebel. You refuse to limit your thinking only to known and accepted facts, and you will even defy logic in your search for ultimate truth. The rules of others mean little to you, and so you don't hesitate to break them.

The causes for which you fight are not common or ordinary in any way, and in fact they may seem outrageous to others. You could succeed in such careers as education, social services, science or politics. But before you can succeed in life, however, you will need to drop your self- righteousness, impulsiveness, arrogance and impatience with "the establishment." Learn some humility and caution. In your dealings with others, be careful to "engage brain before opening mouth."

You will improve with age and experience, and you have the intellectual talents to help you solve life's problems. But you need to develop more self-discipline and responsibility for your words and actions. Others find you exciting to be around, and indeed you are. But sometimes you can be strongly opinionated and immovable in your position.

In your personal relationships, however, you may have difficulty compromising with your partner and consequently may change lovers often. You say things that you don't mean out of fear and insecurity and then have problems smoothing things over. Mars opposite Saturn (Strength: 05.56)

This aspect causes a certain amount of vacillation in your energy level and your goals in life. You go through periods of constant movement and activity and then swing to times of very low energy and lack of direction. There seems to be little in between for you, as you tend to swing from one extreme to the other.

It may seem that your life is beset with unexpected "highs" and "lows," but in reality you are the only thing standing in your way on your road to success. Learn to set priorities, establish goals, plan for their achievement and carry out the plans. This requires patience, self-discipline and determination. In your love life you suffer continual disappointments. You seem convinced that you want your lover when you enter the relationship, but then may find that once the chase is over, you no longer want them. There will be difficulty satisfying your desires in relationships. Again, the key is patience. Once you develop a higher degree of self-confidence, relating on all levels will be more pleasurable.

This aspect is traditionally said to indicate injuries to the bones, such as fractures, problems with joints, arthritis, etc. Beware of accidents involving such injuries and take care to get proper exercise as well as rest. The guideline of "Moderation in everything" is very appropriate for you.

Moon opposite Mars (Strength: 04.60)

Your personal relationships are a constant source of conflict in your life, and this is mostly because of your unwillingness to compromise. You seem to be willing to fight over the smallest things, and often take things personally that you shouldn't. Your emotions are intense, and you are easily provoked.

In men this aspect indicates a lack of tenderness; in women it shows arrogance and pushiness. In either case, you are impatient with the needs of others and impose your demands on those around you. You usually seek out relationships that are physically or economically advantageous to you without considering the person's personality or compatibility with yours.

When you learn to compromise you will find it easier to reach a balance in both your personal and professional lives. Learn to allow yourself to make mistakes; even try admitting you are wrong now and then. This endears you to others because they can see you are willing to admit your imperfection. When challenged by others, take advantage of the situation to clear up all misunderstandings. Be more understanding and forgiving of others, and they will be the same toward you.

Your domestic life is likely to be a stormy one until you have mastered this art of compromise. It is not difficult to get into an argument with you. Moon conjunct Saturn (Strength: 04.16)

Emotionally you are somewhat cautious and defensive due to your need to protect your sensitive feelings. This is probably traceable to your childhood conditioning. Perhaps your parents (or at least the one parent who was the major authority figure in your home) disciplined you so severely that you decided you were not loved. Your early traumatic experiences with your parents left you with a residual negative attitude which leads you to assume that something will always go wrong.

You absorbed guilt from your parents during your formative years and must now cultivate a higher sense of self-esteem. You have difficulty forming close personal relationships because you expect that happiness will always elude you--and therefore it usually does. Learn to think more highly of yourself and then others will be more at ease with you. Your negative attitude about yourself and life in general alienates others.

It is quite likely that you will succeed professionally because you are able to look at situations with detachment and not become emotionally involved. You would be especially good in a position of management. You deal with others honestly and expect the same in return. As a supervisor, you expect high levels of efficiency and competency from those under your direction and will not hesitate to fire anyone who does not meet up to your standards.

In a career you would do well as a lawyer, doctor, judge, teacher or politician. You are able to inspire trust and respect in others and can assure them that you will protect their interests. At the very least, you can work as an employee of one of these professionals.

Moon conjunct Jupiter (Strength: 03.14)

You become emotionally involved in the affairs of society and the world as a whole. In fact you can make an important contribution to the well- being of society as a whole because you have a deep understanding of society's problems and insight into solutions. Your concern for others is genuine and sincere, and you will always offer your help when others are in need.

Although you may not be aware of it, you have a reputation for being generous and helpful to others. You may even offer shelter for those who are down and out. You learned early in life that is indeed more blessed to give than receive, and others admire this quality in you.

As a parent, you strive to encourage your children to follow your lead in serving others. They admire your strong faith in the most hopeless of situations; you always expect a change for the better. You feel an obligation to help raise others' consciousness when you see the need, and your counsel is often well received.

You would do well in an occupation such as social work, public relations, rehabilitation, counseling, and other areas in which you would work a great deal with the underprivileged and handicapped members of society. It is possible that you will travel internationally in your career, such as with the Peace Corps, VISTA, CARE, etc. You would also excel in medicine, law and even religion; all of these require understanding, compassion and a certain amount of spiritual insight. Jupiter square Neptune (Strength: 02.79)

You are highly creative and only require self-discipline and direction to put your talents to good use. Since you are so self- indulgent, your dreams often have little chance of being realized. You tend to overextend yourself by buying on credit and to waste your time on tasks of questionable value. You tend to be gullible and are easily influenced by others to take their side.

You have well-developed mental faculties, but you don't like to face reality and live up to your responsibilities. You could be easily deceived by misleading or false promises. Since you tend to be kind to others and sympathetic to their needs, be careful not to be taken advantage of and stuck with someone else's burden.

Some consider this aspect to indicate that the person is "accident prone." This does not always happen in the form of physical injury; you could get stuck with the blame for someone else's infraction. Exercise discretion in telling your personal secrets. They could be used against you. Avoid discussions about religion or the occult sciences. You won't win arguments in these areas.

In romance, try to see your love without your rose-colored glasses. You tend to cling to your prince or princess charming and do not accept the end of a relationship very well. You tend to idealize relationships and lovers and then are terribly disappointed when reality rears its ugly head.

Sun conjunct Mercury (Strength: 01.39)

You have very strong opinions and don't hesitate to state them without being asked. This can be irritating to people, especially since you tend to dismiss their own opinions as unimportant. You usually have the first and last word in any discussion. In your haste to be first, you may make decisions prematurely. This means you may have to retract what you've said later, and this is not easy for you. You don't like to admit you were wrong and can be very self-centered.

You are creative and could be a good leader if you would take the time to make good decisions. You need to take others' needs into consideration and to learn a little humility. At times you can be something of a "know-it-all," which can be very annoying to others. Try to cultivate some objectivity.

Communication comes naturally for you, and you can express yourself articulately. You love to give orders but may become frustrated if they are not followed. You are not above intimidating others to get their support. Express this aspect more positively by inspiring rather than threatening others. Your enthusiasm can be infectious, and you can work well with the public. You are good at making and carrying out plans.

In your love life, be careful of your tendency to misinterpret your partner's signals. Try to see yourself through their eyes during times of misunderstanding. Your partner should be able to take your directness and lack of diplomacy. You speak straight from the heart.

Sun square Uranus (Strength: 01.20)

You demand that you be granted personal freedom, even though it may inconvenience others. Others may see you as an eccentric "troublemaker" because you always seem to be involved in conflict or disagreement. You enjoy taking the opposing position in a debate--even if you don't really believe in the position you are arguing--just for the sake of argument.

As for your career, you would excel in teaching, science, government service, or any other area in which you can use your strong leadership abilities for the good of others. This will allow you to express your creativity and to develop your good ability to compromise and work with others.

You have a strong desire for power, but before you can attain it yourself you must first deal with your own attitudes about authority. You must realize that people are not out to get you and that you are treated no differently than anyone else. You arrogantly refuse to follow rules, and this sets you up as a target for authority figures. Your attacks on others are nothing more than displays of your own doubts and anxieties about your competence. Develop some humility and learn to recognize other people's needs.

In your love relationships you may seek a mate who is subservient to you but then lose respect for him or her once they submit to your will. Learn to compromise and to allow your mate to have his or her way at least part of the time. Jupiter inconjunct Pluto (Strength: 00.98)

You will be required to undergo several major adjustments as you come to grips with your mission in life. The lesson here is for you to submit to your fate and to resist less when pulled in certain directions. It is the nature of Pluto to demand surrender from those who wish to be transformed.

You have the ability to understand the changing social conditions of today and to have a hand in bringing about a restructuring of society. This is a tremendous responsibility, and you shy away from it. It is important that you serve others in some way, for this is where your greatest potential for growth lies.

Be sure to recognize the difference between the terms "to serve" and "to be used." There will also be those who will try to take advantage of your generosity. Sun opposite Neptune (Strength: 00.92)

You are an extremely sensitive person and find that you are easily hurt by the harsh words of others. Even as a child you probably felt that "sticks and stones" were no more painful than words said in anger. For this reason you learned to shy away from conflict, at least until you could grow to take things less personally.

As a child you began to feel intimidated by authority figures; it may have seemed as though you were the only person being reprimanded or punished. You probably rebelled against what you considered unfair domination on the part of the adults around you. Later in life you will develop a more realistic perspective on authority, even though it will still fall short of your ideal.

Because of your extreme sensitivity, you avoid failure and rejection by not engaging in competitive activities. Perhaps those around you will benefit from taking chances that you refused to risk. You will learn to be more daring as you develop more confidence in your own capabilities. It would be best if you were self-employed; this would allow you to focus on your own creative potential.

You are insecure (if not paranoid) in your personal relationships as well. You are afraid of being snared, so you keep a safe distance emotionally. As with your other competitive activities, a more daring attitude toward love will come as you develop self-confidence. You have very strong instincts in matters of love, but you must learn to listen to them.

It is easy to allow your sensitive emotions to color (if not rule) your world. Instead you must learn to focus this beautiful emotional sensitivity into productive channels. One way to do this is to work toward a goal for the common good, such as a charity or other social organization.

Balance of Elements and Modalities

Abundant Earth

You are in touch with the real world. More than others, you know where the rubber meets the road; persistent study has shown you how to make things happen in a practical sort of way. Your nature is well-suited to the adult world of responsibilities, which you master at a young age. Not impulsive with your resources, you would only start a business after careful study, but you would manage it well. You enjoy the satisfaction that comes not just from starting projects, but from finishing them. Your steady, organized approach is actually more productive in the long-run than is that of the quick, flashy types. You know how to establish a pace and keep it.

Do not let your awareness of the material world make you unappreciative of the spiritual plane that underpins our life here - - to which others may be more sensitive than you. Practicality is fine, but try to understand that dreams, feelings, and enthusiasms are also important and should not be squelched. Others might surprise you with what their optimistic risk- taking is able to achieve. You can be so cautious and reserved that some people find you conservative and dull. If you yourself become bored or depressed, admit that security isn't everything and try to be more spontaneous. Open up to the new and follow your bliss (in a careful sort of way).

Abundant Air

You seem to live for mental exploration. Discovering and communicating the connections between ideas, people, and places is your function in life. Your active mind is good at identifying new frontiers whose basics you quickly master, so that you end up knowing something about almost everything. You have a dispassionate nature that cooly considers the pros and cons of a situation, able to place logic above personal emotion. From your mental viewpoint, emotions look irrational. You make a good negotiator, sales person, communicator, arbitrator, analyst, and information processor. Ideas flow quickly for you. While impersonal and dispassionate, you nonetheless thrive on communication and social interaction. At your best, you strive to understand and accept people, not to change them. Your greatest strength is also your weakness, namely too much coolness from placing head above heart. Leaders must be able to follow their hearts without being indecisive or equivocating. Lack of Water

For you the world of feelings may be terra incognita. Close interpersonal relations, which require the expression of feelings, and empathy for others' feelings, do not come naturally or easily for you. You have difficulty putting yourself in someone else's shoes in order to feel what they feel. You will learn how to deal with life in a tough, mental sort of way. People looking for someone to empathize with them should not come to you. Those people who are comfortable with you are not looking for emotional closeness. It's not that you don't have emotions and feelings, but they do not come out easily in your relationships. If you are an artist, they may come out in your art. You probably take refuge from the difficulty of forming emotional connections by concentrating on intellectual, practical, or inspired activity. A lack of planets in Water signs can be offset by a Water sign ascendant or by abundant planets in the houses of Endings.

Abundant Fixed

With an abundance of planets in Fixed signs, you have the staying power to complete a project, grow a family, or expand a business. Your strength is what friends notice most about you. You have definite values; you focus your affections on the people and things that are part of your team. Friendships formed over time are important to you.
